Privacy Policy

Last updated 29 May 2026

pssst is a way to grab the attention of your 5 closest people — one tap, one notification, no feed. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the control you have over it.

It covers the pssst app and this website. We've kept it as plain as we can. If anything's unclear, email hello@pssst.me.

The short version

  • We collect what we need to run pssst: your account, your profile, who's in your circle, the psssts you send and receive, and — only if you turn it on — your location for the friend map.
  • We share your psssts and location only with the people you choose. We never sell your data.
  • You can edit your profile, switch on ghost mode, mute or block anyone, and delete your account and its data at any time from inside the app.
  • pssst is built for everyday connection. It is not an emergency or safety service — in an emergency, contact your local emergency services.

Who we are

pssst is made by Otherdays Studio (“pssst”, “we”, “us”). We're responsible for the personal information described here. You can reach us at hello@pssst.me.

Information you give us

  • Account. You sign in with Apple. We receive a unique Apple identifier and, depending on your choice, your name and an email address (which may be Apple's private relay address).
  • Profile. A username, display name, an avatar (a Memoji-style emoji or a photo you upload), and the age and gender you provide during sign-up.
  • Your circle. The people you pair with, the invites and share codes you create or accept, friend requests, and your per-person settings such as mute, block, or close-friend.
  • Content. The psssts you send and receive, and anything you attach — a short message, an emoji, a photo, a voice note, a drawing, or a place.

Information we collect automatically

  • Device & push. A push token so we can deliver psssts, plus your device model, operating system, app version, and language.
  • Location. If you turn it on, your location so your circle can see you on the map. See “Location” below.
  • Usage. Anonymous, aggregated analytics about which features are used and how the app performs. These events don't contain your name, email, or message content.
  • Diagnostics. Crash and error logs that help us fix problems. We work to keep personal information out of these.

Location

The friend map is the one feature that uses your location, and it's yours to control.

  • Location is only collected when you grant the permission and keep sharing on. Switch on ghost mode, or revoke the permission in iOS Settings, and we stop.
  • Your location is shown only to the people in your circle — never publicly, never sold, never used for ads.
  • We don't keep a history of everywhere you've been; we store your latest shared location so the map can show it.

How we use your information

  • To run pssst — sign you in, deliver psssts, show your circle on the map, and sync your settings across the app and its widget.
  • To keep pssst safe — enforce blocks, mutes, and who-can-pssst rules, and prevent spam and abuse.
  • To support you — answer your messages and troubleshoot issues.
  • To improve pssst — understand what's working using aggregated analytics.
  • To meet legal obligations — when the law requires it.

How we share your information

We share personal information in a few specific situations, and never to sell it:

  • With your circle. The psssts you send, your profile, and your shared location go to the people you choose to send them to.
  • With service providers who run pssst for us: Supabase (database, authentication, and media storage), Apple (Sign in with Apple, push notifications, and App Store payments), and our email and analytics providers. They may only process data on our instructions.
  • For legal and safety reasons, if required by law or to protect people from harm.
  • In a business transfer, if pssst is part of a merger or acquisition — you'll be told before your information becomes subject to a different policy.
  • We do not sell your personal information, and we don't use your content to build advertising profiles.

Push notifications

pssst works by sending notifications, delivered through Apple Push Notification service. You can manage or turn them off in iOS Settings, though pssst won't be much use without them.

The waitlist

If you join the waitlist on this website, we collect the email address you enter and store it with our email provider (Resend) for the sole purpose of telling you when pssst is ready. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your address at any time.

How long we keep your information

We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, circle, psssts, and shared location; backups and routine logs clear on a rolling basis shortly after. We may keep the minimum needed to meet legal obligations or resolve disputes.

Your rights and choices

  • Access and edit. View and change your profile, username, avatar, and settings in the app.
  • Delete. Delete your account and its data at any time from Settings — it's permanent.
  • Location and notifications. Turn these on or off whenever you like, in ghost mode or iOS Settings.
  • Email. Unsubscribe from any waitlist or product email using the link inside it.
  • Regional rights. Depending on where you live (for example the EEA, UK, or California), you may have extra rights to access, correct, port, or object to the use of your data. Email hello@pssst.me and we'll help.

Children's privacy

pssst is for people aged 13 and over. It isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, email hello@pssst.me and we'll delete it.

Security

We protect your information with encryption in transit and rely on the security of our infrastructure providers, Apple and Supabase. No app can promise perfect security, but we work to keep your information safe and to act quickly if something goes wrong.

International transfers

pssst is run with the help of providers who may process your information in countries other than your own. Where we transfer data internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards for that transfer.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as pssst grows. If we make a material change, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app or by email.
